Ludacris is one of the best rappers of all time and he is now working on releasing his sixth solo album and fifth album with Def Jam, “Release Therapy” which will hit the stores on September 26, 2006. The cd is going to have two sides to it, one side being titled Release and the other Therapy, hence the name of the album. The release side is goin to be the hard tracks that Ludacris is going to call people out on and express himself. The therapy side is goin to feature party music. This cd set up is similar to Nelly’s Sweat and Suit albums and Young Jezzy’s Come Shop With Me cds.
“Release Therapy” has two songs floating around the airwaves and the internet right now, “ War With God” and “Tell it Like It Is.” The track “War With God” is a major diss track goin over a smooth beat. This song is amazing. The track “Tell It Like It Is” is a song where Ludacris spits truth about the music industry. The first mainstream single off the album “Release Therapy” will be the track “Money Maker” featuringPharrell . Pharrell is also goin to be on the album’s track “Girls Gone Wild.” R. Kelly will also be on the album in the track “Woozy.”
Ludacris born, Chris Bridges, on September 11, in Champaign Illinois but raised in Atlanta made an amazing rise to the top of the rap game but always has been confident in his ability. He started off as a DJ in Atlanta, and made his first hit with Timbaland on the track “Phat Rabbit” for Timbaland’s album “Tim’s Bio: Life from the Bassment which was released in 1998. The buzz created from this track made offers rise for Ludacris to sign a record deal, but instead of signing with a major record label, Luda decided to release his own album independently and in 1999 he sold more than 50,000 copies of his first album, “Incognegro.” The success of “Incognegro” helped Ludacris land a record deal with Def Jam in 2000, and with the release of the album “Back for The First Time” which featured the singles “Whats Your Fantasy” and Southern Hospitality” his future presence in rap was predetermined.
In addition to rap, Ludacris has made his mark in acting. He played a role in the movie “2 Fast 2 Furious” and he also appeared in such hip hop based films as “The Wash.” Most recently however, he played a major role in the movies “Hustle & Flow” which Three 6 Mafia won an oscar for their song “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” which was on the movie’s soundtrack. He also stared in the movie “Crash.”
The best track from the up coming album “Release Therapy” that has been released is the track, “War With God” which is believed by most people to be a diss track against the Atlanta Based rapper T. I. The lyrics to “War With God” are:
THE INTRO:
“The time has come for bad things to end,
The time has come for life to begin,
The time has come for the war of the Gods,
It’s that time,
I’ma take the subtle approach first,
Cuz I’m just gettin’ started,
Let’s go, look.”
LUDACRIS’ FIRST VERSE:
I’m the best and there’s nothin that you can do about it
Never needed a publicity stunt, let’s tell the truth about it
Even in the core of the streets you can’t sway the youth about it
But keep runnin yo mouth, and I swear I’ma knock a tooth up out it
I never claimed to be nothin but who the fuck I am
Never sold cocaine in my life, but I’m still the fuckin man
Understand, nothin you did makes you better nigga
You claim the streets but the streets respect that cheddar nigga
Luda got twice as much, your life you can charge it to him
I fit four of your houses inside my daughter’s room
And still have room for young Karma to play
Givin back to the children of tomorrow for good karma today
So you can say what you wanna say and you can talk that talk
But real niggas ain’t doin no talkin cuz we walk that walk,
Album for album you can see I got a multi-million plan,
So call yourself whatever you want except the multi-million man,
Nigga!
THE CHORUS:
Lucifer, oh Lucifer,
Whatever you want except the multi-million man,
God of evil, you’re the god of pain,
Call yourself whatever you want except the multi-million man nigga,
Lucifer, oh Lucifer,
Call yourself whatever you want except the multi-million man nigga,
The Darkness is where you find your light.”
LUDACRIS’ SECOND VERSE:
How many times is you gon rap about bustin your gun,
How many times is you gon trap without bustin your gun,
Only shots you ever took was subliminal to the general,
Disrespectin those doin real time with real criminals whoooa,
And I ain’t never did a day in my life,
But it should be illegal to walk a day in my life, I paid the price,
And the cost to be the boss, so you could rest your mouth,
I’m universal, Luda never limits himself to the south,
I give a damn about your hootin and hollerin, it ain’t botherin me,
I hear you talkin’, but you ain’t made it to three,
You know where I live but you ain’t made it to me, you ain’t made nigga,
I’m havin’ a house party kid, come get played nigga,
You got played, my record label never jerked me,
So shoot me, stab me, but words will never hurt me,
I feed off ya energy, my power’s with God,
So it’s even better if you make ya diss record real hard.”
CHORUS:
”Lucifer, oh Lucifer,
Make the record real hard,
God of evil, you’re the god of pain,
Make the record real hard,
Lucifer, oh Lucifer,
Make ya diss record real hard,
The Darkness is where you find your light.”
Eventhough Luda has shown that he is the man and one of the greatest rappers alive, he has not begun to lighten up on his lyrics or rapping skillz. He is still bringin the heat to the streets. If it aint one way its another as he has been showin with his acting skills and by helping other members of his Disturbing tha Peace Label succeed in the rap game such as Chingy, Shawna, and I-20 to name a few. Ludacris is goin to shock and impress fans everywhere with “Release Therapy.” Listening to some of the tracks on this album surprised me, a lot of what Ludacris is speakin on other rappers would shy away from, but he is Luda and as his lyrics and beats show, if anyone is goin to help lead rap in the future it is Ludacris.
