Ne-yo

Even though he looks like a baby boy, Ne-yo, aka Shaffer Smith, is currently 22years old and rippin up the charts with his singles that make lil girls go crazy. He did not enter the rap game how normal up and coming stars do however. After being born in the unlikely rap breeding grounds of Arkansas, Ne-Yo was able to write lyrics for the amazing groups such as Mary J. Blige and B2K.

Def Jam is extremely happy to have him on their squad. With his unending amount of talent, Ne-Yo will surely be able to raise Def Jam’s standards by selling thousands of albums. Personally though I think this kid looks like a mix between Usher and lil webbie. If that doesn’t scare you off, I think this kids lyrical skills are limited, because when his fans start askin for something new from this artist I seriously doubt he will be able to create a fresh sound or even change from his depressing love sick type songs. His album In My Own Words Features the hit songs So Sick, Stay with me, and When You’re Mad.

His single “So Sick” is a narrative about how ne-yo feels after he had recently broken up with his girlfriend. This song is extremely popular with his audience because it deals with issues that his fans seem to face every day. In the song Ne-Yo spits, “I’m so fed up with my thoughts of you, And your memory, And how every song reminds me, Of what used to be, That’s the reason I’m so sick of love songs, So tired of tears.”

On his track “Stay with Me” is another depressing song about getting dumped. With his lines, “baby its your smile, makes me happy, baby its your touch, so relaxing, whatever it is, without it i just cant go on.” Little Girls love that stuff.

Finally his song “When You’re Mad,” is taking over the radio and BET. This song is provocative with its lyrics, “Baby, don’t think I don’t take you seriously, But I just can’t help the fact that your attitude excites me, And you know ain’t nothing better, Then when we get, Mad together and have angry sex.” HAHAH This song is skraight ridiculous.

This kid obviously has problems with relationships and does not know how to write about them. I think that his music will sell tons of copies because of the little girls he is catering to.
